With a profusion of colors, textures and styles, the annual Johannesburg Art Fair highlights artists, galleries and museum collections from across Africa.

The fourth annual Johannesburg exhibit showcases work that provokes debate on many of Africa's social issues.

It may not have the allure of Paris or New York but Dakar in Senegal is quickly making a name for itself as a force to be reckoned with in the fashion stakes.

Nollywood, Nigeria's booming film industry, has grown in recent years into a mighty movie-making machine, capturing audiences with its universal themes and strong narratives of urban culture.

The mega industry, one of Nigeria's biggest employers, has been notorious for churning out more than 1,000 typically low-budget films a year, fusing a wide array of stories ranging from romance and drama to comedy and witchcraft.

The Nelson Mandela Museum has opened a youth art exhibition on the South African democracy icon's life in his childhood home Qunu.

Eight artists aged between 15 and 23 were chosen from over 100 entries to exhibit their works at the museum in the rural Eastern Cape province.

Two men on Tuesday vandalised a portrait of President Jacob Zuma posing as Vladimir Lenin with his genitals exposed in a Johannesburg gallery, prompting the curator to take down the painting.

The vandalism succeeded where a street protest, a court battle and a pornography probe had so far failed in making the Goodman Gallery remove the painting from an art exhibition about corruption.

A collection of about 100 African films went online Wednesday, offering rentals for $5 to view classics from directors like Senegal's Ousmane Sembene and Egypt's Youssef Chahine.

The African Film Library was three years in the making, sponsored by South African satellite television service M-Net, which digitally remastered the movies and placed them online for rental to make them available to a global audience, said project director Mike Dearham.

Adele emerged as the top winner at Sunday's Grammy Awards, winning six trophies including the prestigious trifecta of record, song and album of the year.

The British songstress, who also made a triumphant comeback from vocal cord surgery on the Grammy stage, sobbed as she won the night's final award, album of the year, for "21." It was last year's top-selling album with more than six million copies sold and remains lodged at the No. 1 spot on this year's charts.
